"Service not enabled for this handheld"?

I've just got my Blackberry 8130 yesterday. I downloaded AIM today and it worked until I tried signing on and it gave me the message saying "service not enabled for this handheld." I also have sprint, no data plan, no micro sd card(YET.) I searched around the internet for this problem and didn't find anything.
