Giving fed baby a pacifier?

My daughter is 3 weeks old and just loves to suck constantly! I wouldn't mind but when people come over or I go outside I don't want to have a baby attached to my the entire time . I gave er a pacifier lastnight and she didn't get confused whn it came to nursing but I've ALWAYS hated the idea of breaking the habit of her using one and I've heard you shouldn't give one to a fed baby but other than nipple confusion.. So just wondering if I shouldn't give it to her for feeding reasons or if it will be okay for now?
